I have used Quick Smart English and also taught business English with Business Basics and some IELTS.
I have also used textbooks used by the university. I think every page of a textbook should have a different format to make it more interesting.
I think a good textbook, workbook and supplementary materials are important to give a good class. Good students are also important as is a good teacher.
I have taught students from mainly Asian countries, but I have also taught some students from Europe and South America so I can adapt to various climates and cultures. I know that some students like to get the correct answer the first time, so I give them more time to answer.
I like interacting with people and talking about interesting topics like geography, history and international affairs.
I am also familiar with the internet, word processors and spreadsheets so I know where to get good teaching materials from. I am also good at writing teaching materials. I have a folder of teaching material I have made.
I have prepared teaching materials of my own for students. They include word searches, crosswords, questions, maps, tables, gap fill and matching exercises, guessing the question if you are given the answer.
I use activities for adults and games for children in my classes, usually at the end of each unit to reinforce the knowledge.
I do not like to teach too much grammar in a class. I prefer to teach vocabulary and conversation.
A class should be fun and interactive.
